Week of Hockey Stars will be held in Chelyabinsk from 3 to 11 December
For the second time in the history of the league, the coach of the Ufa team will lead the team as part of the KHL All-Star Weekend.
The head coach of “Salavat Yulaev” Viktor Kozlov will head the team of the Chernyshev division, in which the Ufa team plays. The rest of the All-Star Team will be led by Roman Rotenberg from SKA (Bobrov Division), Sergei Fedorov from CSKA (Tarasov Division) and Ilya Vorobyov from Magnitogorsk (Kharlamov Division).
– It is very pleasant and honorable to get to the All-Star Game, – said the coach of Salavat Yulaev. – But I would like to say that this is the merit of the entire Salavat Yulaev organization, the coaching staff and, first of all, the team and the guys. Thanks to them, I was chosen.
Viktor Kozlov admitted that he did not follow who got into his team as a result of the vote of fans, journalists and the choice of the league.
– It’s a pleasant surprise for me, so let’s work, – Mr. Kozlov told the league’s press service. – The All-Star game is a show for fans, a good opportunity for viewers to see many league stars in one place.
The previous coach of Salavat Yulaev, who led the team at the KHL All-Star Game in 2010 in Minsk, was Vyacheslav Bykov on the eve of the Olympics in Vancouver. In 2018, Erkka Westerlund was supposed to replace Andrei Skabelka, who was fired from Avangard, at the All-Star Game in Astana, but refused, citing family circumstances.
Recall that in addition to Viktor Kozlov, Chernyshev’s division as part of the stellar weekend “Salavat Yulaev” will also be presented by hockey players Alexander Khmelevsky, Andrey Kareev and Ryan Murphy.
The Week of Hockey Stars will be held in Chelyabinsk from 3 to 11 December. The KHL All-Star Weekend will be held in a two-day format on December 10 and 11.
