The head coach and captain of Lokomotiv will miss the match with Premier League leader Zenit

The Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (KDK RFU) made decisions on three scandalous episodes, two of which occurred after the match of the 16th round of the national championship “Krylya Sovetov” – “Lokomotiv”. The head coach of the railway workers, Mikhail Galaktionov, was disqualified for two games, and the team captain Dmitry Barinov was suspended for one game and one suspended. Thus, both will miss the most important match with Zenit. In addition, Krasnodar forward John Cordoba received a three-game suspension plus another suspended one.

The current meeting of the RFU FTC has probably become the most resonant since it considered the “Alexander Sobolev case” at the end of last season. Moreover, the obscene gesture of the Spartak striker, which he then demonstrated to CSKA defender Willian Roche, was repeated by his colleague in the role, John Cordoba. The Colombian legionary of Krasnodar impulsively grabbed his groin after the end of the 16th round match with Ural, in which his team was defeated and thereby lost its leadership in the Russian championship. This is how Cordoba tried to express his attitude towards the refereeing team of Sergei Ivanov.

Dissatisfaction with the work of the referees also caused scandalous incidents after the meeting between Lokomotiv and Krylia Sovetov. In Samara, the railway workers led 3:1 and missed the victory, conceding two goals already in stoppage time, and they scored the third goal from a penalty, which was converted in the 102nd minute. As a result, midfielder of the Moscow club Dmitry Barinov, on the way to the tribune room, said, addressing the reserve referee: “You are a disgrace for all football.” And it was caught on television. And the head coach of Lokomotiv, Mikhail Galaktionov, actually used an obscene word starting with the letter “b” in an official flash interview, commenting on the refereeing of Vasily Kazartsev.

Of course, the CDC could not ignore this behavior of the participants in the football process. The lightest punishment was received by Barinov, who was disqualified according to the “1+1” scheme, that is, in reality he was suspended for one match, and the second one will be activated only in case of a repeated disciplinary violation during the probationary period. The head of the RFU CDC, Artur Grigoryants, noted in a conversation with journalists that the minimum penalty was applied to Barinov because he is not a repeat offender. True, this does not make it any easier for Lokomotiv, because the captain will now not take part in the extremely important match with Zenit, which will take place as part of the 17th round this coming Sunday.

Accordingly, the railway workers will not be on the bench in the confrontation with the leader of the Premier League and Galaktionov, who is disqualified for two games. Previously, the specialist had not been noticed in scandalous situations – on the contrary, he always behaved with emphatic correctness and was not subject to sanctions. But swearing on television, especially in relation to officials, was considered a serious offense by members of the CDC. So Galaktionov will not be able to lead the team in the final matches of the first part of the championship with Zenit and Ural.

But Cordoba, who followed in the footsteps of Sobolev, greatly let down his club, and this could have a very negative impact on its prospects in the fight for the championship with the same Zenit. After all, the Colombian is not just Krasnodar’s top scorer – the entire attacking game is tied to him. And now he is out of action for three whole matches. Cordoba will not play against Orenburg, CSKA and after the winter break against Rubin. He was suspended for one more match and was also fined 200 thousand rubles. The Chairman of the FTC recalled that Cordoba had violated disciplinary regulations before.
