Do you know who enjoys the New Year holidays the most? No, not the kids with their New Year’s costumes, Christmas trees, matinees and gifts. And not adults with weekends generously granted by the government, Olivier salad and Soviet films on TV. And not even the old people with a sigh of relief: “Thank God, we lived another year!”, long-awaited meetings with children and grandchildren and hopes for an increase in pensions in the coming year. And New Year’s – what a treat! Rarely does anyone limit themselves to a glass of champagne during the week. And then, you see, they drank, got rowdy, got hungover, and so on in a circle. There is somewhere to roam! And the snake handlers – narcologists – are also living people, they themselves at least once a year want to drink and laze around. And on January 7, in the north-west of the capital, the inexplicable happened: a 43-year-old man, in front of his friends, strangled his three-year-old white bull terrier Lars with a rope. People drank and were angry, the dog was the only one sober, and therefore kind and not expecting a trick. As a result, the 43-year-old apartment owner bet with the 36-year-old dog owner that he could strangle the bull terrier. And he did. The owner of the beloved Larsik, the little dog-kitten, of course, sobered up immediately – but it was too late. A man who had a bet with his four-legged friend called the police, accusing his friend of murder. Both were sent to the department until the circumstances of the incident were clarified. A Chihuahua dog belonging to the killer may now be left without an owner for a long time if he is arrested, and God forbid, also dies from grief or neglect.
The cultural capital is not far behind the mere capital. In the Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg, a woman’s five-day-old baby died. The mother had been drinking since the evening, breastfed the newborn at one in the morning, and three hours later she saw that he was not breathing. I called the doctors, although I should have immediately called the police. The deceased baby was the third child in the family. The 36-year-old mother’s two other children are currently one year old and 17 years old.
You can continue ad infinitum: murders from the series “we didn’t plan this at all!”, exacerbation of depression followed by suicides, fights, quarrels… in short, go for a walk – I don’t want to…
But the Year of the Dragon is not the Year of the Green Serpent!
