The main funds allocated to the Voronezh football club “Fakel” from the regional budget are spent on the development of children’s and youth football in the structure of the club. So the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, answered the question during a live broadcast why large sums are allocated to the Voronezh team, while the region obviously needs road repairs.

The head of the region considered the statement about the absence of road repairs to be biased.
– The road fund in the Voronezh region is 18 billion rubles. All this money is earmarked; it cannot be used for anything other than the development and construction of roads. Yes, we allocate funds to the football club. But this money in its absolute value is spent on the development of children’s football, including the maintenance of the children’s academy, which is free for everyone, to support the youth team. These are our priority goals,” Alexander Gusev explained.
The governor also said that the support of the regional government is no more than 30% of all costs for the maintenance of the Voronezh “Torch”. The main expenses of the club are covered by sponsorship money and funds from other sources.
Alexander Gusev said that in 2023 Fakel will receive more than 100 million from sponsors.
