The governor estimated the restoration of housing in the Sverdlovsk region after the fire at 2 billion rubles.

The governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Evgeny Kuyvashev, said that about 2 billion rubles are needed to restore houses and infrastructure in the settlements of the region affected by the fire. According to preliminary estimates given by the governor, 960 million rubles are needed to restore housing in the village of Sosva, where the fire started. He announced this during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I ask you, dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, to give an instruction to provide financial support to the region in the aftermath of major fires in terms of restoring the housing stock, as well as the possibility of restoring the UFSIN facility in Sosva,” asked Evgeny Kuyvashev during the meeting.

Yevgeny Kuyvashev conveyed the wishes of the residents of the region, who are asking to save jobs and restore the work of the burnt medical and correctional institution. The governor also asked the head of state to restore the facility of the Federal Penitentiary Service – a prison hospital burned down as a result of a fire.

According to the governor, 96 million rubles were allocated from the reserve fund of the Sverdlovsk region to eliminate the consequences of the fire. A total of 22.5 million rubles were paid to residents affected by the fire.

The fire in Sosva started on April 25 and was liquidated on the evening of April 27. The fire area reached 9 thousand square meters. m. As a result of the incident, two people died – an elderly woman and a man. More than 100 houses burned down, about 600 people lost their homes.

The cause of the fire, according to one version, was smoldering sawdust on the territory of a timber processing enterprise. A criminal case has been initiated into the fire. The defendants are Vyacheslav Alekseev, a fire safety specialist at the Department of Civil Protection and Economic Services of the Sosvinsky Municipal District, and Gazanfar Mammadov, the manager of the sawmill that allegedly started the fire. Both are under arrest.
