The government will resume subsidizing companies that build and repair roads

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, at a meeting with his deputies, announced that the government would resume a program to subsidize companies involved in the repair and construction of roads. According to him, the decision was made to speed up the construction of infrastructure facilities.

Such companies will be able to receive loans for the advanced execution of orders, including those that are carried out within the framework of the Safe and High-Quality Roads national project. “Moreover, the rate on soft loans will be reduced to 3%. In the next four years, it is planned to allocate almost 700 million rubles for these purposes,” Mishustin specified.

The authorities hope that the measures taken will help “provide funding for important infrastructure projects” so that modern transport networks appear in cities and towns. Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said that road repairs under the aforementioned national project are being carried out in almost all regions.

“Until the end of this year, according to the standard, we have planned to bring 2.5 thousand km of roads. These are 830 routes to educational and leisure children’s educational institutions. To date, of this volume, work has already been completed in full on 430 sites. This is almost 907 km. By the end of the year, we will complete the entire planned volume and even a little more,” the Deputy Prime Minister assured.

As Kommersant reported, the State Duma intends to combine 136,000 km of the most important federal and regional roads for the economy (9% of the entire road network) into a “backbone road network.” The innovations will make it possible to lay down budget expenditures for the repair and maintenance of highways included in the backbone network according to the standards that currently apply only to federal highways.
