Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a greeting to the participants of the Eastern Economic Forum. Telegram published on the Kremlin website.

“The forum has established itself as an authoritative and representative international event that creates good opportunities for direct, meaningful communication between businessmen, politicians, public figures and experts from various countries,” the appeal says.

Putin recalled that the forum traditionally discusses topical issues of economic, social and infrastructural development of the Russian Far East, as well as aspects of cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, within the framework of the panel sessions, plenary session and round tables of the forum, the participants will discuss, among other things, the prospects for expanding trade, investment, scientific and technical cooperation, Putin added. In addition, the participants will need to determine ways to form new supply chains, develop ways to ensure food and environmental security in the Asia-Pacific region.

The head of state stressed that the theme of this year’s forum, “On the Path to Cooperation, Peace and Prosperity,” reflects Russia’s desire “to build constructive relations with all interested foreign partners.”

This year, the WEF will be held from 10 to 13 September in Vladivostok. It was originally planned that the forum would take place on September 5-8. However, later dates were changed in connection with “taking into account the schedules of international events,” explained Deputy Prime Minister – presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev.

Eastern Economic Forum last year brought together more than 7,000 participants from 68 countries and territories, including Russia. Among the participants were about 1,700 business representatives from 700 companies. On the margins of the forum, 296 agreements were signed for a total of 3 trillion 272 billion rubles.

The forum was first held in 2015. It was organized by Putin’s decree. It became a tradition, and the “capital” WEF Primorsky Krai was appointed, where Russian and foreign guests came and come. The main task of the WEF was the strengthening of ties between the international investment community, Russian entrepreneurs, federal, regional and local authorities, a comprehensive expert assessment of the economic potential of the Far East.
