In 2024, Russia will complete work on creating a unified digital platform for the agro-industrial and fishery complexes, the information base of which will be based on Russian software. More than 3 billion rubles will be allocated for the digital transformation of the agro-industrial complex next year, said Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
“Starting next year, a unified digital platform will be created with information on the situation in the agro-industrial and fishery complexes, which is very important for the country’s food security. In total, more than 3 billion rubles have been allocated in the next year’s budget for the implementation of new and planned measures for the digital transformation of agriculture,” said Mr. Mishustin during meetings with deputy prime ministers. The platform is planned to be launched in March 2025.
According to the Prime Minister, the digitalization of services in the agro-industrial and fishery complexes will be carried out in several stages. By 2026, this figure should reach 50%, in 2027 – 75%. By 2028, the execution of all support measures will be completely transferred to “digital”, Mikhail Mishustin emphasized.
Mr. Mishustin noted that the introduction of artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector will reduce the time it takes to provide government services and reduce excessive paperwork. “Entrepreneurs will be able to take advantage of modern technologies to increase yields, optimize their costs, establish effective distribution channels for their products and, accordingly, receive a number of specific benefits for agriculture,” he explained.
The bill on the creation of an information system for digital services in the agro-industrial complex was submitted to the State Duma by the Cabinet of Ministers back in December 2021. In May 2022, the law was adopted, and in July the operating procedure for the new information system of digital services of the agro-industrial complex was determined. It is expected that the system will allow farmers to submit applications for state assistance electronically, and the authorities will be able to assess the effectiveness of state regulation by collecting reports.
