Chernyshenko announced the need for Russians who have received admission to participate in the Olympics

Russian athletes who have received permission to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games should go to the competition in Paris. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko in a conversation with journalists.

At the same time, he noted that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has created conditions that do not allow almost all athletes from Russia to qualify for the competition. According to Chernyshenko, there are only a few sports where such a possibility remains, and the final decision must be made by national federations and the Russian Olympic Committee.

“If the athletes have the opportunity, then they should probably go,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

The 33rd Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris. The opening ceremony will take place on July 26, 2024. Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, said that the decisions of the IOC regarding the admission of athletes from the Russian Federation to participate in the Games are unlawful and discriminate against athletes.
