The government proposed to toughen the punishment for sabotage

The government has submitted a bill to the State Duma that amends Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act) and Art. 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (sabotage). In particular, it is proposed to punish sabotage at nuclear facilities and biological facilities with imprisonment from 15 to 20 years or life imprisonment, follows from the draft law on website State Duma.
As follows from the government bill, a life sentence should also threaten a person or group of persons whose deeds “are associated with an encroachment on nuclear facilities, potentially dangerous biological objects.”
Under current law, sabotage can be punished with life imprisonment only if it resulted in the intentional infliction of death on a person.
