The government has simplified the procedure for issuing certificates of death and disappearance of SVO participants

The Russian government has simplified the procedure for issuing certificates of death or missing persons of participants in a military operation in Ukraine. This was reported TASS And Interfax with reference to documents.

According to the new rules, commanders of military units will be able to issue documents on the death of participants in a special operation. Previously, only medical organizations could do this.

Unit commanders will have to notify the registry office and the MFC that a military personnel has died during service. As the agencies write, this will simplify and speed up the receipt of social benefits for the relatives of the deceased.

A death certificate will be issued in cases where the death of a military personnel is beyond doubt, but the issuance of a medical certificate is impossible.

Such documents will be issued to relatives in the military unit where the deceased served, or at the military commissariat if he served under a contract or in another structure.

After receiving the death certificate, relatives will be able to initiate a procedure through the court to recognize the military man as dead in order to receive social benefits and support measures.

If a soldier disappears in a war zone under life-threatening circumstances or other events that give reason to assume death, he may be declared dead after six months. Previously, missing soldiers were declared dead two years after the end of hostilities.

The government adopted a resolution implementing the laws adopted in April, which simplified the procedure for declaring military personnel dead and missing during a special operation in Ukraine.
