The Russian government approved the procedure for the transfer of confiscated light industry goods to the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the framework of cases of administrative offenses. The decree was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the press service of the government reported.
The Federal Property Management Agency will transfer confiscated goods to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Defense free of charge for their use in humanitarian and other purposes. They will be used to help victims of fires and floods, the press service added.
The decree deals with footwear, clothing and other textile products. “When they are received by the Federal Property Management Agency, it sends a notification to the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations about the presence of a confiscation. The ministries, in turn, send their consent to the Federal Property Management Agency within 15 days to receive goods,” the statement said.
In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the corresponding law. The initiative was proposed by the Ministry of Finance in January 2023.
