The government allocated an additional 1.2 billion rubles for the development of AI

The Russian government will allocate an additional 1.2 billion rubles. to support developments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), such a resolution signed Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Of this amount, more than 800 million rubles. At least 16 small businesses engaged in AI-based products and services will receive grants. Another 250 million rubles. will be used to create and update data sets that are in demand in commercial circulation.

“Such data sets can become the basis of machine learning for organizations in key sectors of the economy and contribute to their digital transformation,” – said Mishustin at a meeting with deputy prime ministers on October 9.

RUB 100 million will be allocated to finance the start of the second wave of research centers in the field of AI.

“All this creates additional opportunities for launching new promising domestic solutions in such an important sector, which is especially important in conditions of external pressure and for achieving technological independence,” the prime minister added.

At the end of September, Mishustin announced that next year the Cabinet of Ministers would allocate 5.2 billion rubles. for the development of AI. According to his estimates, the volume of the AI ​​market last year, despite sanctions, grew by about 18% and reached 650 billion rubles. About 1,000 domestic companies operate in this area. In general, the rate of implementation of AI in sectors of the Russian economy is about 20%, the leader remains the financial sector, where such technologies are already used by 95% of companies, Mishustin added.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to provide support to research centers in the field of AI until 2030. The President instructed to pay special attention to “the need for them to conduct research on optimizing machine learning algorithms and computing processes, including those related to the development of large language models and generative artificial technologies intelligence.”

On October 7, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia – Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that in the state arms program for 2025-2034. For the first time, a separate section on AI will be provided.
