The German Ministry of Internal Affairs, in response to a request from the Berliner Zeitung, indicated that according to the department, 21 citizens of the country are now in Ukraine and 14 of them are taking part in hostilities on both sides.

The newspaper cites the document it received, which states that three German citizens are participating in the battles on the Ukrainian side and 11 on the Russian side. Let us note that there is no official confirmation of this information from Russian departments.

In addition, the German Interior Ministry estimates the number of deaths of pro-Ukrainian German mercenaries during the conflict as “below ten.”

At the same time, the ministry records data only on those German citizens whose activities were previously classified as extremist. Therefore, the publication writes, the real number of German combatants in Ukraine is most likely much higher.
