The Georgian Parliament approved the new government

The Georgian parliament on Thursday, February 8, by a majority vote approved a resolution of confidence in the new government headed by Irakli Kobakhidze, as well as the government program presented by it.

84 deputies voted for Kobakhidze’s candidacy and the cabinet of ministers he represented, while only ten parliamentarians were against it.

Moreover, to express confidence in the new government it was enough to gain the support of 76 out of 150 deputies.

Earlier, Kobakhidze assured that under his leadership the Georgian authorities would continue stop attempts to circumvent sanctionsintroduced by the West against Russia. The politician promised to maintain “strict monitoring by the competent authorities of Georgia, recognized by international partners,” in the implementation of sanctions.

He also noted that the Ukrainian side intends to open “second front” against Russia. According to Kobakhidze, attempts to turn Georgia into a target for the Russian Federation are a serious phenomenon and an alarming fact.
