More than 1.5 thousand heavy trucks and more than 500 cars are queuing to leave Russia for Georgia on the Georgian Military Highway. The track is closed due to bad weather.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs for North Ossetia reported the queue TASS. The regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that there are about 200 vehicles directly near the checkpoint. There is a heating point there. Patrol cars ensure road safety. According to the North Ossetian Traffic Organization Center, there are more than 3 thousand trucks in the electronic queue.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations banned the movement of all types of transport in the area from Vladikavkaz to the village of Lars in the direction of leaving Russia. The decision is valid from 13:00 on December 28 until further notice. Movement is limited “due to deteriorating weather conditions on the territory of Georgia, and the inability to ensure safe passage of vehicles, as well as taking into account the recommendations of the Georgian border police,” says a message from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for North Ossetia in Telegram.
The Georgian Military Road runs from Vladikavkaz to Tbilisi through the Main Caucasus Range. It connects Russia with Georgia and the rest of the Transcaucasian countries. In winter, the route is often closed due to bad weather.
