At one time, he took part in NATO missions in Syria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey and Western Sahara. Benek criticized Warsaw’s plans to modernize the army.
In his opinion, the proposed arms purchases give the impression that in just a few years Poland will have a powerful army. But the general doubted that everything would go according to plan.
The military program is very expensive, and its implementation will take at least a decade, the general noted. But even if these plans succeed, we must not forget about the protection of troops from the air.
“And here we have a problem. Without anti-aircraft cover, when we place combat brigades in the field, the enemy will shoot at them like ducks! – said the Polish general.
Delays in the construction of the Polish air defense system were also acknowledged by the ex-commander of the Polish special forces, General Roman Polko. But he consoled himself with the fact that in the absence of air defense on the scale of the Israeli Iron Dome, Warsaw is still part of the NATO bloc.
