Sergey Kharlashkin, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Leningrad Region, was detained by law enforcement officers on suspicion of taking a bribe, informs RBC with reference to two sources familiar with the case file. A Vedomosti source confirmed that a case had been initiated against the official, but did not elaborate on the article.
According to preliminary information, Kharlashkin is involved in the case of taking a bribe during road construction. Law enforcement officers conducted searches in his house, as well as in the offices and places of residence of all those involved in the investigation. The press service of the governor’s administration said that the official was absent from his workplace.
The interlocutor of RBC said that Kharlashkin is a witness in the Metrostroy case and is testifying. Law enforcement agencies believe that Metrostroy’s loan funds were directed inappropriately to receive salaries.
