The future is seen in bright colors – Kommersant FM

Every third citizen of Russia believes that in six months to a year life in the country will be better than it is today. About the same number believe that changes will not happen, and one in six fears that it will only get worse. The survey was conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation. Respondents were more optimistic about their personal well-being and their family. About 40% of survey participants expect improvements in the near future. The vast majority of those who look to the future positively are young people aged 18 to 30 years.

The high spirits noted in such surveys are due to the peculiarities of the wording, noted Sergei Davydov, associate professor of the Department of Sociology at the Higher School of Economics:

“The question is formulated in such a way that each person puts his own meaning into it.

Social optimism is quite abstract: Someone wants a new job, someone will go to study, someone hopes for a financial improvement in the situation. This all forms such an integral answer.

On the one hand, the situation looks quite calm, despite the fact that the NWO is underway. For most people, these difficulties are virtually invisible. And hostilities will also end at some point, and optimism may also be associated with this, because peace will come, life will improve.”

Research shows that young Russians under the age of 30 are in the best mood. For several years now, measurements of their life optimism have been steadily moving upward.

It turned out that this particular category of the country’s residents is the most financially prosperous and independent, explained Lyudmila Presnyakova, candidate of political sciences, project director of the Public Opinion Foundation:

“We analyzed the dynamics over different years. Previously, for example, there was such a story: pensioners usually made savings, and young people were always not so attentive to this.

But since 2018, this trend has broken. Young people under 30 first caught up with pensioners in this indicator, and then they went in different directions.

The first category of citizens began to have savings, but older Russians ceased to be leaders in this area: only a little over a third of them have savings. That is, our youth live best. She has a higher income level, higher salaries and less expenses.

Compared to older generations, who need to support both their children and their parents at the same time, young people are the most prosperous. They develop both psychological optimism and a positive attitude, which is really supported by their financial situation. They really live better.”

Meanwhile, 16% of respondents admitted to analysts of the Public Opinion Foundation that they were confused and did not know what to expect for their country in the future.

At the same time, another survey by the Levada Center, recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent, suggests that the overwhelming majority – 80% of respondents – consider Russia a great country. There are only three positions on the list of states that Russians consider great.

In addition to Russia, it includes China (the share of those confident in its greatness has tripled over the past 20 years) and the United States. Belief in the greatness of America, on the contrary, has halved.

Attitudes towards the United States, the European Union and Ukraine remain negative, but hostility has weakened slightly in recent months, according to a recent Levada Center survey.
