The Moscow Border Institute of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia has patented a maneuverable reconnaissance UAV powered by solar batteries, TASS reported with reference to the document. According to the agency, the developers were faced with the task of creating a UAV that can take off without a run and land without running.
As reported in the document, a feature of this type of UAV will be the ability to remain in the air for a long time and increased resistance to electronic and mechanical influences. The description clarifies that the UAV shell will be created using cylinders filled with lifting gas.
It is assumed that the appearance of the drone will be made in the form of a wing. The device will also feature two electric motors and solar panels located on the top of the wing. In the middle part of the wing there are communication and control system blocks. According to the description, the UAV wing is attached to a frame, on each side of which an electric motor will be located. The devices are powered by a battery that replenishes energy during flight from solar panels, the document specifies.
