Project 22350 missile frigate “Admiral Golovko” has arrived at the main base of the Northern Fleet for factory and state tests, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said.
“Today, a new frigate Admiral Golovko arrived at the main base of the Northern Fleet. The ship will continue the program of factory sea trials and state trials at the fleet’s combat training ranges in the Barents Sea, including testing of weapons with test firing,” – leads TASS message.
Previously in the Ministry of Defense reportedthat “Admiral Golovko” and the corvette “Mercury” will be part of the Northern and Black Sea Fleets this year. Then the department clarified that on the frigate, which was undergoing the third stage of testing in the Baltic Sea, a check was made of the operation of air defense systems, as well as their control systems, radio equipment and communications equipment.
The frigate “Admiral Golovko” is named after Admiral Arseny Grigoryevich Golovko, who commanded the Northern Fleet during the Great Patriotic War. The vessel is the third hull of project 22350, which was built at Severnaya Verf (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation).
The lead and first serial frigates “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov” and “Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov” are carriers of the Caliber-NK and / or Onyx cruise missiles. In 2021, the Admiral Gorshkov was modified to use the Zircon hypersonic missiles.
