French climber Guillaume Moro won the bronze medal in speed on Monday at the European Climbing Championships in Munich.

A time of 5 sec 551/1000 allowed him to climb to the third step of the speed podium which will become an Olympic event in its own right at the Paris-2024 Olympics.

After coming close to a medal at the Worlds last year (4th), the 27-year-old from Isère took bronze this time by beating the slower Spaniard Erik Noya in the final for third place (5 sec 658/ 1000).

As at the Worlds, the Ukrainian Danyil Boldyrev, the continent’s best specialist and titled European champion for the second time on Monday, eliminated Guillaume Moro in the semi-finals.
