The best performance of the day goes to Manuel Cornu, bronze medalist at the last Worlds, first ex-aqueo with Austrian Nicolai Uznik in bouldering. The 2019 European champion and Olympian in Tokyo Mickaël Mawem took 3rd place, ahead of the two blue climbing hopefuls, Mejdi Schalck (7th) and Paul Jenft (11th). Sam Havesou (19th) also qualified among the 20 semi-finalists. The quartet will also line up in difficulty, with a view to the Olympic combined (for Paris 2024), which will begin on Friday.
Two French in the top 5 in difficulty
In trouble, Slovenian Olympic champion Janja Garnbret, in search in Munich of one of the only titles missing from her list, was the only one to achieve a top to take the lead in qualifying. The French Manon Hily (4th) and Hélène Janicot (5th) were well placed before the semi-finals on Saturday.
This Friday, Fanny Gibert, Oriane Bertone, Flavy Cohaut and Agathe Calliet will be involved in bouldering qualifications.
