Perhaps he was asked to stay, promising parole
Actor Mikhail Efremov withdrew his petition to replace the unserved part of his sentence with forced labor, filed a few weeks ago. It would seem that it is worse in the colony than in the correctional center. So why didn’t Efremov want to go there? The answer is simple: he calculated that it would be better to be released immediately on parole (parole).
Recall that Efremov received 7.5 years in prison under Part 4 of Article 264 “Violation of the Rules of the Road while intoxicated, resulting in death.” He has been in the Belgorod colony for two and a half years. In his case, he will receive the right to parole when he has served half of the term. But it must be borne in mind that he was credited with the time under house arrest (a day for 0.5 in a colony) and his stay in pre-trial detention center No. 5 “Vodnik” (a day and a half in a colony). In general, according to approximate estimates, this year he can apply for parole.
– Forced labor is easier to get than parole, – says lawyer Andrey Grivtsov. – A common practice today: the administration of the institution supports the convict’s petition to replace his unserved part with forced labor and does not support parole. And the court takes this into account. And after all, if a person applied for parole, and he was refused, then the next time he can do it only after six months. That is why they prefer not to ask for parole, but forced labor.
In the case of Efremov, apparently, at first everything happened just like that. But then he assessed his chances for parole, which are really very high. During his stay in the colony, he was an artist of so many thanks that he became an absolute record holder. Efremov staged performances, organized concerts, and worked in ordinary production (he glued boxes). At the same time, he did not demand any special conditions for himself, he did not shake the “rights”. From this point of view, the administration of the colony does not even have a formal reason to find fault with him. And with a good reference from the IC, with a recommendation to release a person in court, the probability of receiving parole is 99%.
Theoretically, Efremov could first go to forced labor, and then from the IC already on parole. Moreover, the new law allows you to calculate the right to parole equally from both the colony and the IC.
– I think he was asked to stay in the colony, – says a former prisoner of the Belgorod IK. – While he is there, they implement various creative projects, win competitions. So we agreed that he would stay and be guaranteed to go on parole as soon as the deadline came up.
