The Foreign Ministry warned of threats to civil aviation due to the supply of MANPADS to Kyiv

The safety of passenger air traffic is under threat due to the supply of man-portable anti-aircraft and anti-tank missile systems (MANPADS and ATGMs) to Ukraine. About it reported RIA Novosti with reference to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Western weapons that reach Ukraine, including MANPADS and ATGMs, due to rampant corruption there, are spreading all over the world, into zones of other regional conflicts, fall into the hands of organized crime, terrorists and extremists of various stripes … Soon it will be time to raise the issue of the security of civilian air traffic in the world, including over Europe,” the statement said.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the EU countries have transferred to Ukraine a total of military assistance in the amount of at least 12 billion euros. In addition to ammunition, Kyiv also receives aircraft, tanks, and by the end of the year it should receive about 1 million artillery shells.
Against the backdrop of the start of a special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia and began to provide military assistance to Kyiv. US President Joe Biden has previously stressed that the country will support Ukraine “for as long as it takes.”
In particular, on April 4, the Pentagon announced about the allocation of the next package of military assistance in the amount of $ 2.6 billion. Washington plans to transfer to Kiev additional ammunition for HIMARS, anti-tank systems, small arms, etc. in the amount of no more than $ 0.5 billion from the reserves of the Ministry of Defense. $2.5 billion worth of equipment and ammunition will be purchased from manufacturers as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
After that, at the Russian embassy accused Washington in the escalation of the conflict. The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to the Ukrainian army before. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that the supply of long-range weapons would only expand the geography of the special operation.
