The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the French Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Pierre Levy. The Foreign Ministry added that the organizers of Macron’s press conference in New Delhi also tried to take away the journalists’ phones, on which the correspondents were filming what was happening. The French side did not provide an apology for these actions, the department emphasized.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova previously said that Russia views this incident as “a blatant manifestation of racism and aggressive nationalism.” She demanded an apology from the Elysee Palace to members of the media.
