The Foreign Ministry said that Russia and the United States are in a phase of “hot conflict”

Russia and the United States are in a phase of “hot conflict”, the period of the “cold war” has long passed. This statement was made by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov on the air of the Sputnik radio station.

“I think we have already passed this period (of the Cold War. – Vedomosti), as they say. We are now in a phase of hot conflict with the US,” he said (quote according to TASS).

Ryabkov said that now there is a direct involvement of the United States in a hybrid war with Russia “in various directions.” The diplomat added that Washington is “absolutely reckless” provoking an escalation of the situation. Ryabkov also noted with regret that now there is “a lot of talk about the threat of a nuclear conflict.” He recalled that Russia has repeatedly stressed the inadmissibility of a nuclear war, since “there can be no winners” in it.

“The underestimation of this determination of ours is perhaps the worst thing that can now happen or, conversely, not happen in the minds of our opponents. We warn them against fatal mistakes,” Ryabkov stressed.

At the end of March, Ryabkov said about Washington’s “actually direct involvement” in the conflict. He urged the US authorities not to follow the path of escalation. In January, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declaredthat the West is no longer conducting a hybrid, but “almost a real war” against Russia. In March he notedthat the United States, in an effort to assert its hegemony, crossed “every line of diplomatic, ethical and any other decency.”
