The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Armenian Ambassador to Moscow Vagharshak Harutyunyan and expressed a harsh message to him after a series of unfriendly steps by Yerevan. About it reported press service of the department.
The Foreign Ministry clarified that we are talking about launching the process of ratification of the Rome Statute of the ICC, holding military exercises on Armenian territory with the participation of the United States, as well as the trip of the Prime Minister’s wife Anna Hakobyan to Kiev, where she transferred humanitarian aid.
In addition, the ambassador was given a note of protest due to offensive statements by the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan addressed to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova and the entire Russian department.
At the same time, the Foreign Ministry emphasized that Russia and Armenia remain allies, and all partnership agreements will be fully implemented for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
1 September Government of Armenia sent The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to Parliament to consider ratification. The Foreign Ministry considered Yerevan’s plans “absolutely unacceptable” due to the position of this organization towards Russia.
