Members of the musical group “Bi-2” after being detained in Thailand refused consular assistance from Russia. The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, spoke about this.
In an interview with the 360 TV channel, the speaker of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the detained musicians “in accordance with all our obligations” were offered a meeting with the Russian Consul General.
However, as Zakharova stated, “they themselves refused this meeting and consular assistance.”
Earlier, deputy Andrei Lugovoy said that the musicians are lucky, because “they fled to Israel – well, let them rejoice.” According to the parliamentarian, “they will be caught somewhere anyway and will definitely be extradited to Russia,” but in the meantime they “travel and beg all over the world.”
Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that he held a meeting with the musicians of the Bi-2 group after their deportation from Thailand. On a social network, the diplomat called the artists “one of the leading Russian-speaking groups” and said that he was happy that managed to help them.
