Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will head the Russian delegation at the G20 summit in India. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, transmits TASS.
“On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, the delegation will be headed by Lavrov,” she said.
28 August Office of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedthat during a telephone conversation with the Indian leader, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he would not be able to take part in the G20 summit in New Delhi, Russia at the event would be represented by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Commenting on the information about the refusal of the head of state to participate in the summit, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the format of Putin’s participation in the event would be announced later. Former Kremlin spokesman saidthat Putin does not plan to personally attend the G20 summit.
The G20 meeting will be held in Delhi on September 9-10. Last year, the G20 summit was held in Indonesia. Russia was also represented by Lavrov.
