The Foreign Ministry called the US accusations of military cooperation between Russia and the DPRK unfounded

Accusations by the United States and its allies against Russia of military-technical cooperation with the DPRK are unfounded and unsubstantiated; Moscow fulfills its international obligations, including UN Security Council resolutions, stated official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

Zakharova was asked to comment on the increasing accusations against Russia and the DPRK that the countries are carrying out mutual supplies of weapons and military technologies prohibited by UN Security Council resolutions. G7 foreign ministers previously made this claim during a meeting in Tokyo. In a statement following the meeting, the ministers “strongly condemned the supply of weapons from North Korea to Russia, which directly violates the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.”

“The accusations made by the “collective West” of “illegal” military-technical cooperation between Russia and the DPRK are unfounded and unproven, in the favorite style of “highly likely.” Moreover, no one gave Washington and Tokyo investigative powers,” Zakharova replied.

According to her, Moscow’s fulfillment of international obligations, including UN Security Council resolutions, does not prevent it from “developing traditional relations of friendship and cooperation with its neighbors,” including North Korea.

Countries that criticize Russia should “look in the mirror more often before teaching others,” says an official representative of the Foreign Ministry. The United States and “their satellites,” according to Zakharova, violate generally accepted norms of international law, send weapons to Ukraine and “thus contribute to the continuation of bloodshed.”

The Russian authorities have previously repeatedly denied the supply of weapons to the DPRK to Russia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called such statements by the White House rumors, and the Kremlin also called statements about arms supplies to the Russian Federation from the DPRK are groundless.

In September, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un came to Russia on an official visit and held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Vostochny cosmodrome. Following the results of Kim Jong-un’s trip, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that it was “timely, useful and constructive.” The Kremlin emphasized that Russia will continue to develop relations with North Korea.
