The foreign ministers of the EU countries did not agree on the allocation of 500 million euros of military aid to Kyiv

The foreign ministers of the European Union member countries were unable to agree on the allocation of the eighth tranche of military aid to Ukraine from the European Peace Fund, said EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell.
“We have not yet been able to reach an agreement on the allocation [Украине] a new tranche of military aid of 500 million euros, but we will definitely do this in the future,” Borrell said following the ministerial meeting in Luxembourg (quote according to TASS).
The next tranche of military assistance to Kyiv was agreed upon back in May. Its allocation was blocked by Hungary due to Ukraine’s inclusion of the largest Hungarian OTP Bank in its “list of international war sponsors.”
In September, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP) of Ukraine suspended status of “international war sponsor” for the Hungarian OTP Bank to receive assistance worth 500 million euros. The Hungarian authorities did not agree to this condition and demanded a complete delisting for the bank. As a result, on October 2, NAPC excluded OTP Bank is blacklisted.
4 October Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó demanded from Kyiv lifting sanctions from the Russian division of OTP Bank.
On October 20, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at the Hudson Institute, reportedthat since the beginning of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine in 2022, the EU has sent Kyiv about $90 billion in aid, of which a third went to arms supplies.
