“Public consolidation is required” – Kommersant FM

The Israel Defense Forces announced the conditions for canceling the ground operation in the Gaza Strip. To do this, Hamas must surrender and release the hostages. At the same time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Lebanon of serious risks if attacks intensify in the north of the Jewish state. Iran is also threatening to retaliate in response. Meanwhile, international organizations are trying to arrange the supply of humanitarian aid to Palestine. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize believes that there is no peaceful solution to the conflict in the Middle East today.

The main question, apparently, is this: will it be possible to localize the conflict in the Gaza Strip, or is it heading towards a big war in the Middle East, and perhaps beyond its borders? How likely is it that, say, Iran and the United States will directly participate in this confrontation? The thesis that wars usually happen regardless of the wishes of potential participants is now very popular. This is not beneficial to anyone, however, circumstances turn out differently.

For now, everything is limited to flexing muscles, mutual threats and local skirmishes on Israel’s northern border. The latter is apparently in no hurry to begin a ground operation in the Gaza Strip. There are many different versions on this matter. Probably the main one is that this is at least some opportunity to free the hostages and, accordingly, avoid unnecessary casualties during the assault on well-fortified terrorist positions.

Meanwhile, Jerusalem announced the conditions for ending the war: Hamas must release all hostages and surrender. It is unlikely that he will agree to this, which means that an invasion of Gaza will definitely happen sooner or later, unless, of course, some other factors arise that could influence this.

It is also clear that US President Joe Biden simply must win this difficult game. Otherwise, his re-election may be in doubt. In fact, this is a challenge to America first and foremost. This is what the enemies say: Washington is in charge, not the Jewish state, which means he is responsible for everything.

Two American aircraft carrier formations are in close proximity to the theater of operations. By the way, one of the versions why the ground operation does not begin is that the Americans allegedly asked to wait, since not all of their forces have yet been deployed in the region.

China also decided to send its warships to the Mediterranean Sea. Beijing is on the side of Palestine, and it makes it clear that it is also an influential player in the world and its opinion should be listened to. However, it feels like it’s being ignored a bit. Actually, he doesn’t offer anything special.

You can talk from morning to evening about a Palestinian state, about the fact that it needs to be created immediately, but in reality things are much more complicated. In general, no peaceful solution is visible today. Although the plan for the post-war structure of the Gaza Strip is now being actively discussed, no specifics are visible.

Meanwhile, all references to Greta Thunberg, who is known to have supported Palestine, are being removed from the Jewish state’s school curriculum. It seems like a small thing, but the story is more than significant. Incomprehensible artificial heroes, appearing out of nowhere, go where they should: in timelessness. So, you see, the civilized world will begin to wake up, and awareness and understanding will come of where to go next and what real values ​​are.

All is not lost—social consolidation is required. And, of course, something needs to be done with the UN – the organization is not at all up to par, as are all its divisions. Every day he compromises himself more and more.

What about Russia? Participates in the “3+3” meeting in Tehran together with Iran, Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The central theme is the future of the South Caucasus. This is also an important issue that, of course, needs to be addressed.
