The US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee has recommended Lynn Tracy’s candidacy for the post of Washington’s ambassador to Russia, the committee said on Twitter.
“At today’s meeting, we approved the appointment of Lynn Tracy as our Ambassador to Russia,” the statement said. The issue of appointing a diplomat will be considered by the upper house of Congress.
September 20 White House informedthat US President Joe Biden nominated Tracy for the post of ambassador to Russia. Tracey worked in Russia in 2014-2017. as Deputy Ambassador to Moscow, and also served as Senior Adviser on Russian Affairs at the State Department. In 2019, Tracy was appointed US Ambassador to Yerevan.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov also informedthat the Russian side agreed to the appointment of Tracy as the new US Ambassador to Moscow. “Yes, they gave agrement. Former US Ambassador John Sullivan ended his term in office early due to cancer that his wife, Grace Rodriguez, was battling. She died the day after Sullivan’s resignation was announced. The former ambassador emphasized that the early termination of his powers had nothing to do with the Russian special operation or the policies of the Biden administration.
