The flame of the International Children’s Sports Games “Children of Asia” reached Vilyuysk – it was delivered on Sunday. However, the relay race through the city was not carried out due to the fact that the country declared mourning in memory of those killed during the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall.

In the morning, the torch passing ceremony of the VIII International Children’s Sports Games “Children of Asia” took place. Next, torchbearers-athletes, including young participants from the Vilyuisky district, the head of the Vilyuisky district, Sergei Vinokurov, and the mayor of the city, Yan Popov, were photographed against the backdrop of one of the landmarks of Vilyuisk – the only monument-model of the Soyuz-T2 rocket in the Far East. The city celebrates its 390th anniversary in 2024.

Let us remind you that the fire of the VIII International Children’s Sports Games “Children of Asia” was lit, according to tradition, at the foot of the Lena Pillars. The torch must visit all 36 uluses of Yakutia. In each district there are torchbearers, worthy residents who have contributed to the development of sports and the socio-economic development of their small homeland. A total of 550 torchbearers will participate.

The torch relay is scheduled to end in the capital of the republic, Yakutsk, on June 26, the opening day of large-scale sports games.
