The new flagship center of the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine on Bolshaya Sukharevskaya Square was put into operation. This is the second of six flagship centers at large city clinics that are planned to be opened in Moscow to improve the efficiency and quality of emergency medical care.

Earlier, the flagship center in the GKB im. Veresaev. The center at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute will receive the first patients in March. In addition, flagship centers will appear in the GKB im. Botkin, City Clinical Hospital No. 1 im. Pirogov, City Clinical Hospital No. 15 im. Filatov and GKB im. Buyanov.

“Hospitals to host the flagship centers were chosen in such a way as to minimize the time for transporting emergency patients from any district of Moscow,” the press service of the mayor and government of Moscow said.

Each center will have reception and diagnostic departments, wards, operating rooms, intensive care units. They will be equipped with the most modern equipment. Logistics and work algorithms are thought out so that patients begin to receive the necessary assistance from the first minutes of their stay in the center.

Flagship Center of the Research Institute. Sklifosovsky is a large seven-story building, designed to receive 200 patients a day. The reception area is located on the first floor. Here, incoming patients will be distributed depending on their condition. Those who urgently require surgery or resuscitation will be immediately sent to emergency diagnostics or to the operating room. Patients whose condition is stable will be provided with assistance according to the “doctor to patient” principle, when, after completing the necessary documents as quickly as possible, a person is provided with a bed, and then all the necessary examinations and procedures are carried out at the patient’s bedside.

Here, on the first floor, there is a diagnostic unit (CT and X-ray room, ultrasound and functional diagnostics rooms), a small operating room, a dressing room and a plaster room.

By the way, connecting to EMIAS and, consequently, doctors’ access to the patient’s electronic medical record will help speed up the registration and diagnosis.

For patients with suspected infectious diseases, isolation and diagnostic boxes are equipped. Such patients will be isolated from other patients and subsequently redirected to specialized medical facilities.

On the second floor of the center there are examination rooms of the regional vascular center, individual examination rooms of an otorhinolaryngologist, an ophthalmologist and a urologist, MRI and CT rooms, as well as an angiographic operating room, where minimally invasive surgical interventions can be performed, including for heart attacks and strokes.

The third floor is occupied by the ward diagnostic department and the ultrasound room. On the fourth floor there is a resuscitation and intensive care unit, an endoscopy unit with treatment rooms and a small operating room, a unit for processing and storing endoscopic equipment.

Six operating rooms were equipped on the fifth floor, including two hybrid operating rooms with angiographic equipment and MRI. In such operating rooms, several specialists can provide surgical care to the patient at the same time – for example, neurosurgeons, cardiovascular surgeons, traumatologists, specialists in radiation diagnostics.

Also on the fourth and fifth floors, postoperative wards are provided, in which patients will stay until they fully wake up after anesthesia.

In addition, comfortable recreation areas for relatives and friends of patients have been created in the building of the flagship center. There are special rooms where you can talk with doctors and psychologists.

A helipad was placed on the roof. This will allow patients to be quickly delivered to the center by air transport.

With the main building of the Research Institute. The Sklifosovsky Center was united by an overpass, which allows you to move from one hospital building to another without going outside.

It is specified that the work of the flagship center is organized so that patients spend no more than a day in it. Afterwards, depending on their condition, they will either be discharged home or transferred to other departments of the hospital.

Other flagship centers will work in a similar way. It is expected that after all six centers are open, they will be able to receive more than 500 thousand people a year – this, according to experts, about half of all patients who require emergency medical care.
