Oksana Sokolova, the first female long-distance train driver in Russia, received a certificate, the Russian Railways press service reported. Now she is entrusted to drive long-distance passenger trains.
Sokolova works on the Sverdlovsk railway. Earlier, she completed a course of study and passed the exam for the right to drive an electric locomotive. Also, as noted, she underwent practice accompanied by an experienced mentor.
Thus, Sokolova became the first woman in Russian Railways who was entrusted with driving long-distance passenger trains. Within two months she will have to undergo an internship, after which her first independent trip will take place.
The opportunity to work as machinists and assistant machinists for women in our country has appeared since January 1, 2021. This happened due to changes made by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation to the list of professions available to women.
