According to the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Judo Cup among lightweight men began yesterday on the tatami of the North Star House of Culture in Nizhny Novgorod. Over three days, about 400 athletes from 45 regions of the country will compete for awards.
Judoist Mikhail Mamaev from Khakassia, under the coaching guidance of Denis Leskov, won the Cup gold medal in the weight category up to 66 kilograms. He fought in five meetings in which he won. In the final, he fought for six minutes with an experienced athlete from the Kemerovo region.
Mikhail Mamaev became the first winner of the country’s Judo Cup in the history of the republic.
