The first virtual lawyer created in Russia based on artificial intelligence

Metropolitan developers Alliesverse bring to the Russian market a beta version of the LawAl virtual lawyer. This was reported to Vedomosti by the CEO of the platform, Oleg Lisyansky.

According to him, LawAI differs from its predecessors in that it is not a bot, artificial intelligence, which for the first time has been trained in knowledge of all the Codes of the Russian Federation.

“In simple terms, everything that was before us is programmed models that can act like a search engine for a static, uploaded amount of data. Our virtual lawyer is endowed with the ability to think, analyze and, most importantly, self-learn and improve,” Lisyansky explained.

In addition, the founder of the project claims that the neural network model in the draft version already knows how to find the answer to a given question from the field of jurisprudence, decipher legal terms, search for articles from the code on a given question, and in the coming weeks it is expected that it will begin to search for court decisions by name or number.

The developers intend to continue improving the product and teach it a more advanced level of communication with the client: conducting a dialogue on “broad context” issues and “interviewing” a user who cannot immediately formulate the essence of the issue from the point of view of jurisprudence. At the moment, there are still difficulties with this, admits the technical director of the project Maxim Golovach.

“It is difficult for a virtual assistant to resolve situations when the problem is not formulated clearly enough or it has a solution at the junctions of legislation – it simultaneously refers to violations of several Codes of the Russian Federation. LawAI can certainly replace legal knowledge, but not the intuition and experience of a lawyer,” Golovach explained. In his opinion, in order to make ethical and judicial decisions, it is necessary not only to have a deep understanding of laws and legal principles, but also the ability to apply them in real, concrete situations.

Golovach also said that at the stage of attracting investments into the project, the company faced some skepticism. “Why do we need LawAI when the same questions can be addressed to the notorious ChatGPT? I had to explain that the use of ChatGPT and other existing ready-made solutions is not suitable for the goals set, because. they are trained on an international dataset. And it has many discrepancies with Russian legislation,” he said.
