According to the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, from March 29 to 31, the Russian sumo championship among juniors under 17 years old was held in Kazan. More than a thousand athletes from 32 regions of the country came to participate in the competition.

Khakassia was represented by Chamyyan Kara-sal, who won gold in the weight category up to 65 kilograms, where 52 participants competed for victory. The athlete trains under the coaching guidance of Adar Kuular and is a student of the Republican Sports School of the Olympic Reserve in Martial Arts.

In this regard, a meeting with the winner and coach took place at the Ministry of Sports of Khakassia.

For the first time, the head of the department, Sergei Kochan, mentioned the appearance of sumo in the region as part of the development of national sports in 2022 after the championship in this sport in Tyva. Later we worked with interested specialists to create a regional federation.

This year, the Russian Sumo Federation donated inventory and equipment for training and competitions. Soon everyone will be able to attend his presentation.
