Most of Germany’s ruling coalition supported the transfer of long-range German Taurus missiles to Ukraine at the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg. Daniel Kaspari, head of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany and the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CDU/CSU) group in the European Parliament, told Bild.
On Thursday, March 14, members of the Bundestag made a decision that allowed the possibility of transferring the Taurus to Ukraine. At the same time, in the EP, politicians from the SPD, FDP and the Green Party mostly voted for the transfer of long-range missiles to Kyiv.
“Even though we, the CDU/CSU, welcome the vote of EU MPs from the SPD, the Greens and the FDP, presenting opposing positions in Brussels and Berlin is a deception of the voters,” said Caspary.
It is noted that the resolution was supported by 451 deputies, 46 people were against it, and 49 abstained.
