The first stage of the Tennis Mayor’s Cup was held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

The final matches among juniors took place in the Gidrostroy sports complex. Sergey Nadsadin took part in the awarding of the winners and prize-winners of the competition, the press service of the administration of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk reported.

The Cup stage among juniors brought together more than 60 participants aged 9 to 18 years. Tennis players from the Sakhalin Region, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, and Chita competed for tournament awards in singles and doubles. As the chairman of the Sakhalin Oblast Tennis Federation Alexander Kotvitsky notes, the level of training of athletes is growing every year.

Mayor Sergei Nadsadin congratulated the young participants on the end of the tournament. He noted the growing interest of citizens in this sport and wished the athletes success in future competitions.

“The city administration, together with the regional government, supports the interest of citizens in various sports, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk can rightly be called a sports city. There are a lot of people in the regional center who go in for physical education and sports on a regular basis. We also support the interest of South Sakhalin residents in tennis. For 10 years, Sakhalin stars have appeared in the island capital, which are already known not only in the Russian sky, but also participate in international competitions, ”Sergey Nadsadin emphasized.

This year the youth tournament of the Mayor’s Cup has become one of the stages of the Russian tennis tour. Each victory in the match brought the participants points in the personal rating, which makes it possible to participate in competitions of various levels.

“This is my first time in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. A very beautiful city, I also really liked the courts. The game was good. Usually I worry, and because of this, I get errors. Now everything was fine. I am satisfied with my game, ”said Diana Tretyakova from Khabarovsk.

“I liked the competition. I didn’t give it my all, but in the final I managed to pull myself together. I am already preparing for the next tournament, which will be held in Khabarovsk,” said Vasilisa Kochkadaeva, the winner among girls under 13 from South Sakhalin.

On September 7, the next stage of the tournament in the Pro category will start as part of the Mayor’s Cup. The tennis courts of the regional center will bring together the best athletes of the Far East from 18 years of age and older. The well-known tennis player, vice-president of the Russian Tennis Federation Anastasia Myskina will also visit the competition. The guest of the tournament will hold seminars for coaches, an exhibition match for athletes and perform in the mixed doubles category.

It should be noted that the Tennis Mayor’s Cup is held for the tenth time. This year, about 250 people took part in the competition. The tournament will end on September 10th. The best players will be awarded with cups and gifts from competition partners.
