The first stage of the “Path of the Champion” swimming championship has started in Kirov.

On February 28, traditional competitions brought together more than a thousand athletes from Kirov and 9 neighboring regions in the 50-meter Bystritsa swimming pool. Swimmers of 2015 and older from the republics of Tatarstan, Chuvashia, Komi and Mari El, Yoshkar-Ola, Perm Territory, Vologda, Yaroslavl and Kirov regions, Moscow.
Opening the competition, the President of the Kirov Region Swimming Federation, Roman Balyasnikov, noted that the Kirov Region Swimming Championship “The Path of the Champion,” which has been held for the fourth year, traditionally attracts a large number of athletes of different ages and levels of training.
“Thank you to the Bystritsa sports school, which warmly welcomes the athletes, the participants who came to show their capabilities, the coaches and judges,” said Roman Yuryevich.
The tournament takes place over three days, which allows you to include all possible distances in the program. In addition, there are no restrictions on the level of training, which means that both children for whom this is their first experience of participating in competitions and those who have already become a permanent leader at the starts can try their hand. An additional motivation for athletes is a cash prize, which is distributed among the swimmers who score the maximum number of points at the end of 4 stages. It is noteworthy that the prize fund is distributed among athletes who take places from 1 to 7 in all age categories.
For many, especially beginner swimmers, it was unusual to swim in a 50-meter pool, because most sports schools only have short water at their disposal. The hosts of the competition were helped not only by their native walls, but also by the familiar water. Based on the results of the first swims, it was the students of the Bystritsa sports school who were among the prize-winners and winners. How the places will be distributed and which team will collect the most medals will become known on Friday evening.
