In the Kursk region, the first mobilization task has been 100% completed, Deputy Governor Alexei Smirnov said at an operational meeting. According to the official, the authorities have already received the second task and, together with the military registration and enlistment offices, have begun to implement it. Mr. Smirnov did not give exact numbers, noting that the mobilized Kursk residents are being re-equipped with everything necessary.
On September 21, the head of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel, said that within the framework of partial mobilization, it is planned to call up 2.5-3 thousand residents of the region.
Deputy Governor Oksana Krutko clarified that since September 22, more than 6.5 thousand requests have been received by officials regarding mobilization. According to the official, 209 people applied for participation in a special military operation in the Kursk region through the service on public services.
Also at the meeting, Governor Roman Starovoit spoke about his impressions after visiting the training centers of the Ministry of Defense, which he had previously criticized. “One of the parts where residents of the Kursk region arrive requires special attention. That is why the Governor of the Vladimir Region is assisting the Ministry of Defense in bringing the canteen and barracks into line,” said Mr. Starovoit. According to him, the commanders praise the Kuryans as the most disciplined and motivated military personnel.
President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization on 21 September. The authorities argued that those who served in the armed forces, have certain military specialties and relevant experience, will be subject to conscription first of all.
