In French Guiana, at the main European spaceport in Kourou, fire tests of the Vulcain 2.1 first stage engine were successfully completed. This is a key element of the promising Ariane 6 launch vehicle. The tests were reported by the SpaceNews portal.

The tests took place for 8 minutes, more than seven of which the engine operated at a stable speed, the rocket developer company reported. If no hidden anomalies are identified based on the analysis of instrument readings, the rocket may be cleared for launch as early as 2024.

Let us recall that, according to a number of media reports, 6 member states of the European Space Agency will ultimately invest 290-340 million euros in the launches of the Ariane complex.

Earlier it was reported that there were problems with the control system of the new launch vehicle, which is why tests of the first stage engine had to be postponed from October 3 to November. We are talking about a system that allows the rocket to maintain a vertical position at launch.
