September updated the record for the entire history of average temperature and amount of rain.
Leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, Mikhail Leus, reported this on his Telegram channel.
The first autumn month of 2023 became the warmest and driest month in the last 144 years. Rain in Moscow was observed only for six days instead of the average climatic 16. In the capital, only 6.1 millimeters of precipitation fell. The previous achievement, in 1882, reached 7.9 millimeters.
The average September temperature was 15 degrees, 3.1 degrees above normal.
In October, city residents will still see thermometer values of plus 17–19 degrees, but the first frosts are expected in the second half of the month. There will be much more precipitation than in September, and the first snow is possible.
