The first SAMBO section in Russia for seminarians opened in the Sverdlovsk Region

In the city of Verkhnyaya Pyshma, the first sambo section for seminarians in Russia was opened. This was reported in the press service of the project of the party “United Russia” “Za sambo” in the Sverdlovsk region.

The idea of ​​opening a section for students of the Yekaterinburg Theological Seminary was born during the discussion of one of the key areas – “Sambo to Universities”. Since an important part of the formation of the future clergyman is not only spiritual, but also physical health.

Orthodoxy and sambo in Russia have always gone together. Combat Sambo was created by Vasily Oshchepkov with the blessing of his spiritual mentor, St. Nicholas of Japan. Now Sambo is developing in 40 countries of the world. An important condition for mastering martial arts for seminarians is the awareness of its moral basis.

“The guys who are training here today are future priests who must be very strong people internally,” said Metropolitan Evgeny of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye. “The classes that are now taking place form and temper character, they teach you how to win and lose correctly, they teach you to respect others and the person who is in front of them.”

The coordinator of the Za Sambo party project in the Sverdlovsk region, deputy of the Legislative Assembly Alexei Svalov noted that the idea of ​​creating a section was born as a response to external challenges.

“In my opinion, now one of the most important tasks of our project is not only to educate the guys involved here, but also to scale this experience throughout the country, while maintaining the main principle of national martial arts: SAMBO is not about attack, but about defense himself and his loved ones,” said Alexey Svalov.

Classes for seminarians will be held in the martial arts hall of the UMMC DC swimming pool. Under the guidance of the Master of Sports of the USSR Alexander Kakushi, 20 students will study. Andrey Simanovsky, a member of the public council “Za Sambo”, helped to get the training uniform.

According to Valery Chainikov, Chairman of the Public Council “Za Sambo” in the region, the Yekaterinburg Seminary has become the fifth higher educational institution in the Sverdlovsk Region to join the “Za Sambo” project. Trainings are already taking place for students of RGPPU, UMMC Technical University, USGU and USTU.

Earlier, MK-Ural reported that in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, under the auspices of the project of the United Russia party “Za Sambo”, two bright events were held – sports festival “Sambo and TRP in universities and colleges” and the Festival of the All-Russian physical culture and sports complex “Ready for Labor and Defense” (TRP) among students.
