“I don’t know what to expect from the audience. But it’s good that Wimbledon is asking players to talk about the conflict and who they support in it. Considering what happened last year, it is only fair that the organizers ask such questions,” Iga Sventek said at a press conference (quoted from “RIA News”).
The Wimbledon main draw will take place July 3-16 in London. Russian and Belarusian athletes will be able take part in it in a neutral status. Last year, Russian and Belarusian athletes were not allowed to compete. In response, the Association of Tennis Professionals and the Women’s Tennis Association stripped the tournament of ranking points.
