Swiatek noted that, in her opinion, this would be fair, given “last year’s events.”
In 2022, the organizers did not allow players from the Russian Federation and Belarus to participate, for which the ATP and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) deprived the tournament of rating points. This season, the Russians and Belarusians will perform at Wimbledon in a neutral status. The Wimbledon tournament will be held from 3 to 16 July on the grass courts in London.
Earlier, the BBC reported that Russian and Belarusian tennis players would be required to terminate sponsorship contracts with companies under UK economic sanctions.
