The first launch of the Angara-A5 rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome was cancelled. Angara-A5 is the first rocket developed and created after the collapse of the USSR. The head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, cited the reason for the cancellation as a failure of the pressurization system of the oxidizer tank of the central unit.

The launch was scheduled for 12:00, the rocket was supposed to launch the Orion upper stage with a test payload into orbit. The broadcast was carried out on YouTube channel “Roscosmos”. The next launch attempt is scheduled for tomorrow, April 10th.

Initially, the launch of Angara-A5 was planned for December 2023, but it was postponed to the first quarter of 2024. “Angara-A5” belongs to the family of modular-type launch vehicles (allows you to build on blocks of launch vehicle stages) with oxygen-kerosene engines. This rocket can launch from 3 to 7.5 tons of payload into orbit. It was assumed that in the future the Angara family of rockets will replace Proton launch vehicles. The main customer of the family of these missiles is the Ministry of Defense.
